Description:

Southeast Asia, Burma (modern day Myanmar), Ava Period, ca. 17th century CE. A wonderful ensemble of gilded bronze cast miniature votives depicting kneeling devotees, the three central figures (possibly Bodhisattva figures with the flame of Nirvana upon their heads) presenting an offering to Buddha in their hands, the rightmost figure with hands in a gesture of prayer or respect, the leftmost figure a dancer wearing an elaborate headdress and presenting a conical cup of offerings to Buddha. These are strong examples of Burmese Shan (Tai-Yai) miniature artworks which would have originally been part of a small set representing a significant scene from the life of Buddha. Custom stand. Size: tallest figure measures 2.5" H (6.4 cm)
