Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 16th century CE. A textile temple banner of rectangular form bearing 2 intricate depictions of Chakrasamvara, the primary deity in this type of tantra. Each side of the temple banner depicts Chakrasamvara engaged in Yab-Yum (literally "man woman") with his female consort Vajrayogini in a physical display of non-duality while they are surrounded by a plethora of Dhyani Buddhas as well as several abstract, animal-headed deities.
