Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sukhothai / to Ayutthaya period, ca. 16th century CE. An exquisite museum quality Sukhothai solid gold ring with 3 cabochon Burmese rubies, the incised chased detailing of the 83% gold (equivalent to 20K) band is remarkable- scrolling spirals foliate motifs- a raised floral motif at the very bottom of the shank. In many ways the ring emulates a lotus or blossoming flower! This is a larger ring, likely intended for a man to wear- a clear indicator of wealth and prestige!
