Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ayutthaya period, ca. 16th to 17th century CE. A bronze head of a Buddha with eyes cast downward that look closed to reflect a tranquil state. A narrow face is framed by characteristically long, drooping ears and the head is topped with tightly carved nodules to indicate a coiffure characteristic of Ayutthaya depictions of the Buddha. The pointed nose, angular face, and pursed lips make for a delightful side profile view of this piece. Size: 2.5" W x 4" H (6.4 cm x 10.2 cm); 6" H (15.2 cm) on included custom wooden stand.
