Description:

North and South America, early Spanish Conquest period, ca. 16th century CE. A gathering of 12 cast-iron bolt tips with tapered heads meant for piercing even the thickest of armor when loosed from a crossbow. One bolt tip features a lengthy blade and point as well as a narrow, cylindrical socketing shaft. Ten tips are of relatively similar designs with solid tangs and four-sided heads, and the largest tip has an elongated head and exhibits orange and beige hues. Crossbows were incredibly advantageous weapons when pitted against comparatively primitive bows and arrows as they surpassed the accuracy, firing rate, and lethality of even the most well-constructed bow. Size of largest (orange and beige hues): 4.875" L (12.4 cm)
