Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Eastern Europe, Russia, ca. 16th to 17th century CE. A collection of one hundred coins, known as "wire money," and made from silver wire. This style of coinage was created in certain Russian fiefdoms when the Golden Horde's influence began to slip in the middle of the 14th century. The largely unregulated nature of these coins' production means that there are thousands of different varieties. A nice selection. Size of each on average: 0.6" W (1.5 cm); 47.8 grams
