Western Europe, probably England or France, ca. 16th to 17th century CE. A lovely copper ring that is covered in a layer of gold-and-silver gilding. Set within the circular bezel is a hand-carved sardonyx cameo displaying the right-facing head of a male laureate with a short beard and a piercing gaze. Size (ring): 0.48" L x 0.72" W x 0.79" H (1.2 cm x 1.8 cm x 2 cm); (cameo): 0.44" W x 0.42" H (1.1 cm x 1.1 cm); gilding quality: 32.71% gold and 21% silver; weight: 1.8 grams; US Ring Size 5
