Description:

Northern Europe, England, ca. 16th century CE. An attractive leaded brass ring with an incised rearing horse and the letters "MM" on the face. The overall shape of the face is slightly octagonal and has an incised border around the edge. A cross hatched pattern forms the ground that the horse gallops on. The horse's reigns are loose and flying out behind the neck. The letters are above the horse's head and may be the initials of the ring's owner. The surface has developed a lovely dark, nearly black patina which only further embellishes this lovely piece. Both attractive and wearable! Size (opening): .75" Diameter (1.9 cm); (face): .625" L x .56" W (1.6 cm x 1.4 cm); US ring size: 7
