Description:

Pre-Columbian, northern Chile, Mapuche people, ca. 1500 CE. A fabulous pair of hand-carved stone pipes, both boasting elongated forms and smooth, charcoal gray surfaces. The larger presents the shape of a lengthy cuboid with an ovoid bowl rim, a tapered lip, and a bulb-like handle. Conversely, the remaining pipe exhibits a cylindrical body that narrows to lips at both ends with a large, elevated bowl at the center. Size (of largest): 5.3" L x 0.8" W x 0.8" H (13.5 cm x 2 cm x 2 cm)
