Description:

Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Le Dynasty & Thailand, Sawankhalok or Sukhothai, Ayutthaya Kingdom, ca. 15th to 16th century CE. A pair of Southeast Asian pottery jars with matching lids. The larger pot is likely from Thai kilns; slightly tilted, with bands of blue and abstract linear and motifs and a conical handle. The other pot is characteristic of Vietnamese stoneware; a ribbed surface and matte coloration in red, green, and black on a beige ground. The Maritime Silk Road, a historical trade route through Southeast Asia, contributed to the cross-cultural styles often seen in pottery during this period. Size of largest: 4" Diameter x 3.5" H (10.2 cm x 8.9 cm)

Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010
