Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok culture, ca. 15th century CE. A lovely pottery jar presenting a hemispherical form and fitted, round lid, all sitting upon a ring-form base. Adorned in hues of creamy beige and chocolate brown, the body and lid are skillfully incised with abstract avian, vegetal, and ichthyic designs. An applied handle caps the lid, surrounded by 4 hemispherical pottery applique embellishments. Size: 3.75" in diameter x 2.75" H (9.5 cm x 7 cm)

Provenance: ex-Ashland University Museum, Ashland, Ohio, USA, donated to Ashland University between July 1994 to December 1998
