Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, ca. 15th to 19th century CE. A pair of Buddha heads, both from larger statues- one is a 15th century cast bronze and the other is pottery from the 19th century CE. Despite the age differences, Buddha is classically portrayed with similar features that exude peace and tranquility transcending time and changing styles. Downcast eyes, arched brows, full lips, and stretched earlobes, symbolizing Buddha's all-hearing powers, benevolence, and wisdom. Atop the head is Buddha's distinctive curled coiffure composed of dozens of small nodules. Size of pottery Buddha: 2.25" L x 1.25" W (5.7 cm x 3.2 cm)
