Description:

Central Asia, Nepal, 15th to 16th century CE. An absolutely stunning and large repousse gilded bronze figure of Ganesha (Ganesh). The god is seated with legs crossed, elephant head well-detailed, wearing a large crown, with four arms shown, each holding an implement. Comes with custom stand. Size: 8.5" L x 6.5" W (21.6 cm x 16.5 cm)

The figure is brightly gilded with bright red cinnabar pigment highlight many of its details and providing depth to the artwork. Ganesha is shown with his mount (vahana), a mouse, at his feet. Ganesha, the patron of arts and sciences and revered for his intellect and wisdom, is wonderfully displayed here, seated on a low throne under an archway, with two vases containing flames surrounding him.
