Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sukhothai to Ayutthaya period ca. 14th to 16th century CE. A brass statue of the Buddha seated upon a lotus pedestal his hands in the Bhumisparsa mudra, or "earth witness" mudra. This mudra represents the moment of his awakening, as Buddha defeated the demon Mara, and claimed the earth as his witness to his enlightenment. Buddha is depicted with slender waist and broad shoulders - this phenotype an indication of an earlier style - wearing a sash across his chest, his hands in the Earth Touching Mudra, with fingers very slender and delicate.
