Description:

Western Europe, Italy, late Middle Ages to Renaissance, ca. 14th to 16th century CE. A rare and authentic medieval dagger, forged from carbon steel with a slender, pointed blade indicative of rondel or stiletto designs. Revered for their piercing capabilities, such weapons were crafted to penetrate chainmail and exploit gaps in plate armor. The iron pommel and scalloped-edge guard, though loosely affixed to the tang, remain intact, while the original grip—likely made of wood or bone—has succumbed to time. Daggers like this were indispensable in the 14th to 16th centuries, valued as both a secondary weapon and a tool of self-defense by knights, soldiers, and civilians. This fascinating piece offers a glimpse into the ingenuity of late medieval and Renaissance craftsmanship.. Size: 10.5" L x 1.5" W (26.7 cm x 3.8 cm)
