Description:

Western Europe, England, near Ipswich, late Medieval period, ca. 14th century CE. A die-cast leaded copper heraldic pendant of a trefoil style with a narrow, pierced suspension bale projecting from the top. The obverse pendant face exhibits three ornate crowns bearing tall crucifixes as the central elements, and remains of red-orange enamel decorations are still visible within some surrounding areas. Lustrous dark-brown patina has formed across the pendant and imbues it with a dignified and well-preserved presentation. Size (pendant): 1.125" W x 1.6" H (2.9 cm x 4.1 cm); (necklace strand): 21.9" L (55.6 cm)

  • Condition: Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Pendant is from the late Medieval period and necklace stand is modern. Slight bending to pendant body, with chipping and fading to enamel decorations, otherwise intact and very good. Light remains of enamel decorations and great patina throughout.
