Native American, Midwest to Eastern United States, Eastern Woodland, Archaic to Woodlands Period, ca. 5000 BCE to 1000 CE. A collection of 14 fragmentary stone artifacts that were once part of bannerstones, gorgets, and a knapped blade tool. The pieces are worked by human hands - drilled hafting slots are present throughout and most are highly polished with smooth faces, and some have a rounded wing shape that is characteristic of bannerstones. Size of largest: 4" L x 2" W (10.2 cm x 5.1 cm)

Provenance: private Kansas City, Missouri, USA collection; ex-John Townsend collection, formed in the 1970s and earlier
