Description:

North America, Pliocene to Pleistocene, Ice Age, ca. 100,000 to 20,000 years ago; Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Beringian / Old Bering Sea Culture, Punuk & Thule to Inuit, ca. 200 BCE to 1800s CE; Southern United States, Kentucky, Woodland period, ca. 1500 CE to 1800 CE; Pre-Columbian, Mexico & Peru, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A collection of ancient bone and walrus ivory tools and much older bone and tooth fragments from Ice Age animals. The carved pieces include an ungulate bone awl or drill tool from Kentucky and Inuit walrus ivory carved into scrapers and a pipe stem. The bone axe with a greenstone blade is perhaps Pre-Columbian and is labeled "Lat." (Latin America?). One of the slender point bones might be a Peruvian weaving tool. The large tooth with black enamel is probably a worn-down molar from a Mastodon. It is unknown what the largest fossilized bone is from, possibly a pelvis from a mastodon, mammoth, or other large mammal. Size of largest bone fragment: 10.5" L x 4.75" W (26.7 cm x 12.1 cm); smallest: 1.75" L x 1" W (4.4 cm x 2.5 cm)
