Description:

Medieval Middle East, Persia, Seljuk (also Seljuq) Empire, ca. 12th century CE. A cast-bronze finial depicting a stylized anthropomorphic figure standing with both hands on the hilt of his sword. The man wears a knee-length shirt as well as a ball-topped helmet. Figural finials perhaps adorned the pommels of elaborate Seljuk weaponry, and this example bears layers of lustrous brown and green patina. Size: 0.875" W x 3.3" H (2.2 cm x 8.4 cm); 3.6" H (9.1 cm) on included custom stand.
