Description:

Europe, Southern Europe, Medieval, ca. 12th to 15th century. A fine iron-weld knife blade featuring a long 4-sided tang that tapers at its base, likely for butchery or as a weapon, a cross-section slanted at a 45 degree angle, and an extended slightly recessed single-edged blade with a short tip. Two stamped maker's marks can be found on the mid-section of the blade; one of a 6-pointed star or asterisk and the other of a cross with a starburst at the top. Adorned in a lustrous hue of deep silver accented with light russet patina throughout, this blade is a gorgeous example from medieval Europe! Size: 11.5" L x 1.1875" W (29.2 cm x 3 cm)

Provenance: ex Estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, acquired before 2000
