**First Time At Auction**

Central Asia, Iran, likely Kushan, Islamic culture, ca. 12th to 13th century CE. A porcelain lusterware bowl presenting conical walls that gently curve inwards to a circular rim, all sitting upon a pedestal foot, the white surface is overpainted with a brown pigment with an inscription circling the upper rim and interior basin. Intertwined snake forms with scaled bodies encircle the interior, and a bird is painted on the center tondo. Size: 6" Diameter x 2.75" H (15.2 cm x 7 cm)

A similar bowl with a translated inscription is part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection and can be viewed on their website, accession number: 61.40.

Provenance: private Los Angeles, California, USA collection, originally imported to the US in the early 1960s, thence by descent to present owner circa 2010s
