Description:

Western Asia, probably made in Khorasan, eastern Persian (Iran) and western Afghanistan, Seljuk (Seljuq) period, ca. 12th to 13th century CE. A beautiful hammered-copper bowl resting upon a slightly concave base with flared walls and a thin rim surrounding the shallow basin. Incised along the lower exterior is a program of slender ribbons draped from triangular upper elements, and the walls are accentuated with broad bands of Kufic script that flank four encircled blooms. Thick areas of patina imbue the bowl with an elegant presentation. Size: 5.2" W x 1.875" H (13.2 cm x 4.8 cm)
