Southeast Asia, Indonesia, the island of Java, Majapahit Empire, ca. 1293 to 1527 CE. An impressive pottery figure of a kneeling man with his hands on his lap. Gazing forward from heavy-lidded eyes, the fascinating figure presents a naturalistic visage with a broad nose, prominent nasolabial folds, and full lips, all flanked by a pair of intricately formed ears and capped by a bulbous, pointed turban. The ancient figure displays a stocky build with broad shoulders, adorned by a lengthy skirt belted just below his muscular chest and a large pair of bangles on his wrists. Size: 2.7" W x 5.3" H (6.9 cm x 13.5 cm)
