Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A beautiful jasper intaglio depicting the god Jupiter Ammon, inlaid into the bezel of a 12 karat gold ring. The intaglio is expertly cut, depicting the god in profile, with one of his ram's horns magnificently curled against the size of his head. Ring is US size: 5.25; intaglio is: 0.5" W x 0.6" H (1.3 cm x 1.5 cm)
