Description:

Near East, Persia (Iran), Seljuq (Saljuq / Seljuk) Empire, ca. 11th to 13th century CE. A beautiful and wearable Islamic gold signet ring with a carnelian stone intaglio depicting a deer. The band is a thick, flattened sheet etched with curvilinear motifs- made from 67% gold (equivalent to 16K+), the shoulders slightly widen to support the bezel- lightly etched with linear patterns and a sculpted four-pronged setting. Interestingly a stippled circular motif is marked on the flat underside of the bezel. The orange cabochon carnelian is etched with a simple deer with antlers leaping in profile. The four-prong style and animal motif were popular styles in the medieval Seljuk empire.
