Description:

Medieval Middle East/Central Asia, Persia, modern day Turkey, Seljuk (Seljuq) Empire, ca. 10th to 12th century CE. A hammered brass disc used as a horse identification tag among Seljuk riders. The discoid accoutrement has a slightly convex shoulder centered with a perforated dome and zigzagging patterns and raised text around the periphery. The rim is further adorned with raised stippling, and layers of brown and green patina imbue the disc with a nice presentation. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only.
