Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Near East, Iran, Samanid Dynasty or later, Nishapur or Samarqand, ca. 10th to 15th century CE. A steep-walled, glazed bowl with six repeated leaf-shaped motifs in green and brown around the interior. The exterior is largely unglazed aside from a bright, foliage green glaze that drips down from the rim. Nishapur and Samarquand were centers of politics and culture in medieval Persia, and their pottery is some of the most unique and beautiful we see from this time period.
