Medieval Islamic World, centered in Cairo, Fatimid Dynasty, ca. 909 to 1171 century CE. A gorgeous single earring comprised of 81% gold (equivalent to 18K+) and displaying an elaborate design comprised of openwork, fine repousse, beaded wire, and granulation. The ample crescentic form presents a mesmerizing composition. From center to perimeter: an openwork wheel-like centerpiece followed by a crisscross openwork and beaded border, followed by a band of grapevines delineated via repousse with a beaded border, and finally seven large granules adorning the outer frame. A stupendous example of jewelry from the Medieval Islamic World. Weight: 6.3 grams. Size: 2.625" L x 1.875" W (6.7 cm x 4.8 cm)

  • Condition: Small break to upper right of crescentic composition and indentations to granules as shown. Ear wire is slightly bent, and while it does have some movement, we would not recommend wearing it as is. This said, it could be wearable with a new setting or easily made into a pendant.
