Medieval Islamic world, ca. 10th to 14th century CE. A gorgeous single earring comprised of 53% gold (equivalent to 10K+), in the form of a crescent with a series of granulated triangular and circular projections emerging from one side, creating a sunburst-like motif. Gold filigree and hemispheres stud both faces of the crescent in a symmetrical motif that contributes to its ornate appearance. Size: 1.6" W (4.1 cm); gold quality: 53% gold or equivalent to 10K+; total weight: 3.9 grams. Would make a lovely pendant.

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection; ex-American collection, 1980s to 2000s; ex-Frances Artuner collection, Belgium, collected in the 1960s
