Description:

**Originally Listed At $1000**

Medieval Egypt, Islamic, Fatimid Caliphate, ca. 10th century CE. An attractive pottery bowl made from beige-hued clay with a basin that is enveloped with lustrous yellow and green glaze. The conical bowl rests atop a flat, squat foot and has flared walls that terminate in a scalloped rim that is pinched at regular intervals. Liberally glazed bowls from the medieval Islamic period like this example seem to have drawn inspiration from Chinese ceramics which people in Egypt and the Near East would have observed arriving on caravans traversing the Silk Road. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only. Size: 6.6" W x 2.5" H (16.8 cm x 6.4 cm)

Provenance: private California, USA collection; ex-Artemis Gallery; ex-private New Jersey, USA collection, acquired prior to 2020
