Southeast Asia, Cambodia, Khmer / Angkor Empire, ca. 10th to 13th century CE. An iron blade and bronze handle spear head, an ancient weapon from the Angkor empire, once of the most powerful cultures that included Cambodia, and parts of Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand. The iron blade has a petaloid shape, a thick lengthy neck, and tang hafted to a cylindrical bronze handle socket for attaching to a wooden pole or handle. A heavy patina on the blade ascertains to the age of this once intimidating and deadly spear. Size: 13.3" L x 1.5" W (33.8 cm x 3.8 cm)

  • Condition: Layers of blade reattached with adhesive and remains of adhesive on widest areas of blade. Active flaking to blade, losses, and surface pitting to blade as shown. Heavy oxidation, russet patina throughout. Bronze handle guard is well preserved with green patina.
